So, I made a post recently about not pushing myself and listening to my body more to avoid injury. It was a good run…I stood up from the couch the other day, and when I went to take a step forward my foot didn’t get the memo. It lifted, but not all the way and then folded and rolled. There was some popping and crunching, and I fell. I couldn’t feel it for a few minutes as I sat on the floor trying to reboot my brain to what just happened. I got up, to the couch, and after a few hours of frozen veggies and elevation decided urgent care was needed. They didn’t see any breaks, but gave me a fracture boot to wear for the next few weeks. I have had this intrusive thought for years because I regularly can’t feel my feet. It’s why I stopped running. I could picture myself twisting my foot or ankle and falling in the process. What I never pictured was it happening from just standing up from the couch. I knew my right foot was asleep. I didn’t realize my left foot was being dramatic until it was too late. Next time I’ll wait for my leg that’s asleep to come back online before I try walking 🤣
